Happily spent another 24 hrs in Quilpie working with the local cultural champions on the review and development of the RADF program. Loads of great passion and enthusiasm for keeping the culture vital. With the Arts and Cultural Plan just about in place, local priorities will be at the forefront of future projects and activities. A cultural oasis.

No dragons in St George, just a wonderful group of enthusiastic artists, artisans and artworkers keen to learn more about how to go about setting up a professional business. This is the first of a series of 3 workshops on how to develop your arts business idea and to get your wares or services to market. A great couple of days. Thanks St George Arts Council; look forward to my return soon. I’ll bring some more rain!
Happy to return to Gladstone for what was a suite of workshops for local artists and arts workers. This time it was the How To of: grant writing; project planning and management; and one of my favourites, writing about, documenting and presenting your art. Three great days with some wonderful people, all most efficiently coordinated by the ubiquitous and thoroughly delightful Di Paddick. Thanks for a great trip (once again ably facilitated by Flying Arts).
Off on a well earned break in an exotic overseas destination for some yoga, cooking classes and adventure. Oh, and a bit of work. I’m going to drop into Sam Rit and the cultural exchange residency (funded via DFAT) I set up with Elysha Gould while I was still at FAA Inc. Look forward to that – it’s been a while in the slow cooker. Merry Xmas and here’s to a prosperous and adventurous 2016.
After a long absence, a happy return to Emerald for a couple of Arts Management workshops with the local Cultural Champions. The town is looking great and it was a pleasure to spend some quality time with such an enthusiastic group. Look forward to returning to the jewel of the West in 2016.
A whistle stop return to Quilpie to present the Draft Arts and Cultural Plan to Council. Nice to be back in town. Had a good hearing and now that plan goes out for a period of community review and feedback. Looking good. Fingers crossed.
Nice to be back in Miles and catching up with the Western Downs cultural champions on another series of workshops for WDRC. This time it’s all about Governance and running successful community Associations. Doesn’t sound like fun stuff; but it was. Had another great time with some great people. Thanks.
Back again in Charters Towers. This workshop is a culmination of a great deal of work I have done with local artists and arts workers on firstly setting up running a local NFP arts association and then looking a developing a detailed business plan. After so many trips I’m feeling like a local. What a joy it’s been to work with this wonderful group of people. Thank you and good luck with the all new Towers Arts Inc!
Lucky enough to secure a quick trip to Bundaberg to facilitate a cross department planning session to review the arts and cultural plan. A great group of people all committed to delivering quality arts and cultural services to the community.
A happy quick drive up to Yandina for a workshop with the good burghers of the Sunshine Coast region. And a great opportunity to catch up with the delightful Jenny Jones of SRC. Hopefully this workshop will be helpful in assisting with their arts events and project management activities.
It’s a fair drive from Brisbane but how great it is to be out in Wandoan. Delivering a couple of arts business workshops here over the weekend: How to write successful funding and grant applications and How to plan and manage a successful event or arts project. There’s been some good and not so good times out this way but the people are ever resilient and fantastic to work with.
Happily in Quilpie doing the ground work for the development of the Arts and Cultural Plan. This is quintessential Outback. Love it.
